DotAsia Landrush Auction starts!

DotAsia Landrush Auction starts!

22nd April 2008 - The Landrush auction process has just started for .Asia domain names and any customers, who have applied for a .Asia domain going through the auction, can now bid from the AsiaDNS website.

Any domain name that has been ordered during the Landrush phase might have entered the "open auction" process. If this is the case, the order will stay pending until the auction is over. In some other cases, for example when nobody has placed a bid during the auction, the domain might become available again after it has passed the auction phase.

Regarding the pending DotAsia Domains that have not gone through the auction yet, they will be scheduled by the registry in the following weeks. The applicants will be informed by email.

Xavier Buck, CEO of EuroDNS explains how the auction process works, “Customers have received or will receive notification emails about their domain names going into auction. An auction will last for 7 days and if there are no bids the domain might enter the GoLive phase. In case a participant bids, the auction will be prolonged for another 24 hours.

Customers can bid through the EuroDNS new interface via the main navigation bar on the left side, by clicking on ‘Asia Auctions’. They will then be able to see their account and all the information related to .Asia domain auctions: ‘open auctions’, ‘upcoming auctions’, and ‘auction history’.

The participants using the EuroDNS interface can bid freely and will be invoiced only after they have placed their final bid. The payment methods that can be used are: Credit Card, EuroDNS Credit Account or Bank / Wire transfer”.

There is also another bidding interface available, the Asia Registry’s pool auction, for which you will need to create a different account at http://dotasia.pool.com/.

Frequently asked questions about .Asia domains:

- Why is a domain displayed as free although it’s taken?
The 'whois like service' provided by the Asian registry only displays the domains that allocated or registered, not the ones that are still in process (= are in auction, or have been reserved during another launch phase, etc). Information about reserved names can be found here http://registry.asia/info/DotAsia-DomainsAppliedFor--2008-02-27.txt and here http://pioneer.domains.asia/prospects.html.

- When will the domain I ordered during Sunrise/Landrush be registered?
This depends on the Asian registry and if there will be upcoming auctions.
You will receive email notifications about the states of your domains by the entities in charge (EuroDNS, the Asian registry and Pool.com) as soon as there's news about the proceedings of your applications. - The GoLive phase started, what about the domains I ordered during Sunrise/Landrush?
The start of the GoLive phase doesn’t affect the pending domains that have been ordered during an earlier launch phase.

- Why is my domain still in ‘Ready for submission’ status?
If this status lasts for some hours the domain is in most cases already taken or reserved.

.ME Sunrise Period is coming up!

.ME Sunrise Period is coming up!

.ME is the new extension for Montenegro and EuroDNS has just been accredited by the .ME registry.

The registry will begin accepting .ME applications in May, for the start of what is known as the General Sunrise Period, a time when only trademark owners can apply. However, registrars who sign up before that time can start accepting Sunrise and Landrush applications and pre-registration requests, as soon as they’d like. As was the case with .ASIA, multiple parties will be allowed to submit applications for the same domain name. Domain names that receive more than one application will go to an auction process. .ME Registry officials today announced the roll-out plan for .ME, the new domain name extension. .ME is expected to be utilized as both a personalized Web address and as a catchy business marketing tool around the world. The .ME Landrush is targeted to begin in early June, with Open Registration commencing on a first-come, first-served basis in mid-July. Two-year minimums are required on all .ME domain names registered during the Landrush and initial Open Registration periods.

The complete .ME roll-out schedule is as follows:

  • May 6 to May 20: General Sunrise Period. During this time, anyone with a trademark is eligible to apply for a .ME domain.
  • May 20 to June 6: Quiet Period. The registry will be closed to registrars. Sunrise auctions will begin for names that received multiple applications. .ME domain names that receive only one application will be awarded.
  • June 6 to June 26: Landrush. This is the first opportunity for the public at large to apply. Anyone who doesn’t have a trademark, but is interested in a specific .ME domain, can apply during this period. This is also when Sunrise challenges begin.
  • June 26 to July 15: Quiet Period. During this time, the registry is closed to registrars. Names for which there was only one application during the Landrush Period are allocated. Landrush auctions will begin for names that received multiple applications.
  • July 17: Open Registration. Domain names are registered on a first-come, first-served basis.

.Asia Registry Goes Live Today!

.Asia Registry Goes Live Today!

Luxembourg, 26th March 2008 – The .Asia Registry “Go Live” process has just started and domain names are now available on the traditional First-Come-First-Served basis here! During the General Registration (Go Live!), the registry awards the .Asia domain name to the first person who submits the domain.

Xavier Buck, CEO of EuroDNS explains, “In contrast to the previous Sunrise and Landrush phases, there won’t be any auctions this time. Our new AsiaDNS/EuroDNS website platform is ready to receive all applications. We have recently performed major changes to our website in terms of its ergonomy and the services provided. This will facilitate even more Domain Name Registrations and your .Asia applications during Go Live”.

“With over 10 million domains registered in China alone and over 150 million worldwide, the potential for .Asia is only now starting to be realized. There are millions of great .Asia domains still available on a first-come-first-served basis,” says Edmon Chung, CEO of DotAsia.

On March 13th, DotAsia Organisation announced a total of half a million applications for .Asia domains and named EuroDNS/AsiaDNS Top registrar for the Landrush phase. These results show the raising interest in .Asia, and applications are expected to continue growing over time.

One of the reasons of EuroDNS/AsiaDNS success is the aggressive price offered during .Asia Landrush phase, together with a .asia.com domain for free. Registrants can apply for .Asia domain Names for only 10 Euros from http://www.asiadns.asia or http://vwww.eurodns.com/ with the Promo code 7Asia10, until the end of April, and get a free .asia.com domain. EuroDNS launches improved version of its Website

EuroDNS launches improved version of its Website

Tuesday, March 18th – After extensive beta-testing, EuroDNS launches its 2.0 website with a wealth of new features and improved services. Thought from the ground up to facilitate Domain Name Registrations even more, the site provides enhanced ergonomy with an attractive look and feel. With version 2.0 of its flagship Website, EuroDNS offers an even better interface to register Domain Names; the “address” used to access and recognizes a particular website on the Internet. Thanks to the new version, less than three seconds are now needed to find out whether a required name is available for registration and secure it in more than 50 domain extensions (.Com, .Asia, .EU, .Fr…).After having spent five months analyzing its key customers’ feedback and suggestions, EuroDNS is therefore proud to present the innovations of its website, all designed to allow even easier domain names Registrations both for individual customers – at a time where studies show more and more people registering domain names – and professional investors, since according to RBC Capital Markets, generated advertising revenues exceeded USD 1 billion in 2007.

Gregory Lonak, EuroDNS CTO, details: “The entire website content has been improved, allowing customers to make a more informed choice when they register names. The navigation itself is a lot more intuitive and our tests show we have jumped ahead in user-friendliness. Thinking of our growing international customer base, we have also made available the domain management in the following languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Polish, Dutch and Italian, while more languages will also be added in the coming weeks”.

To check the domain name availability, Eurodns provides several new tools including a bulk domain name search and the ability to restrict a search on any given extension or top level domain. Also added in version 2.0 is the ability for customers to filter their domain with their own criteria and then proceed to bulk operation, such as applying a DNS record profile. The concept of “Folders”, in which customers can classify their domains, should also appeal to companies and law firms running large domain name portfolios. The folders work via a drag and drop system, and specific access rights can be granted individually to ensure maximum productivity while maintaining constant control.

Lonak adds, “We really took advantage of a lot of features ‘Web 2.0’ has to offer, including RSS Feeds, but the list of features we have developed and improved for the new EuroDNS website is too long to quote, I would suggest our customers to give it a try themselves!”.

To the credit of its new interface – then in beta! – is the title of “top registrar” awarded to EuroDNS by DotAsia Organisation for having submitted the most .Asia applications during the Landrush Phase (see here). This addition should boost even more EuroDNS’ track record: in less than six years, the company has become one of the top European Registrars with a steady growth in domain names’ registrations and one of the biggest portfolios of domain names under management, a success due in part to its highly successful “one-stop-shop” strategy which allows customers to consolidate their portfolio both in Europe (.EU, .FR…) Asia (.KR, .CN) and worldwide (.Com, .Mobi…) under one roof. EuroDNS’ excellent relations with Domain Name Registries and the ease-of-use of its interface have also helped form close ties to the Domain investors’ community.

The new EuroDNS website fully optimizes domain names’ registrations and offers customers an ideal a platform to manage their domains names, whatever the extension.
